The Emotional Freedom Technique
Is a Tool Anyone Can Use

Anyone can learn and utilize the emotional freedom technique. It is that simple. The results are powerful and life changing.

One of the simplicities of the emotional freedom technique is that the same procedure is used for any issue that we need to heal. What changes from issue to issue is the approach that is used. The approach is the route that is taken to heal the issue. The route taken depends on what kind of experience causes the negative emotion.

I might be wanting to heal an alcohol craving. This usually stems from chronic anxiety. What is causing my chronic anxiety. It could be the culmination of several past traumatic events. So, what really needs to be healed are the energy imbalances caused by the traumatic events. It is very important to get to the root of an issue. If EFT is not working for someone, it means that the root of the issue has not been found.

Guidelines
One of the beauties of EFT is even if you are skeptical, it will still work. So, that will not have an effect. When doing the EFT tapping, it is easiest to use your dominant hand. Use the index and middle finger to cover more of an area over the meridian point while tapping. Tap about seven times on each point. It doesn't matter what side of the body you tap on. Lastly, be as specific as possible with the set up phrase.The Emotional Freedom Technique consists of four parts.
1) The Setup
2) The Sequence
3) The 9 Gamut Procedure
4) The Sequence (again)

The Set Up
The Set Up begins the procedure by taking care of any interfering blockages we have. There are two parts to this:
1) Rubbing the "sore sport." The sore spot is about three inches below the U-shape below the throat. Move your fingers about two or three inches to the right or left until you feel a sore spot. Rubbing that spot stimulates the lymphatic system which gets rid of any blocks.
2) While rubbing the sore spot, state your affirmation three times with emphasis. For example, "Even though I was involved in a traumatic car accident, I totally love and accept myself."

The Sequence
The Sequence involves tapping certain points in a "path" down your body. While doing the tapping, repeat the set up phrase at each point. Here is the path:
1) Beginning of the eyebrow near the nose
2) Outside portion of the eye on the bone
3) Under the eye about one inch below the pupil
4) Under the nose between the nose and upper lip
5) The indentation between the bottom lip and chin
6) At the collarbone point near the throat
7) Under the arm about four inches from the arm pit
8) On the outside edge of thumb even with the base of nail
9) On the side of the index finger next to thumb even with the base of the nail
10) On the side of the middle finger next to index finger even with the base of the nail
11) On the side of the pinky finger next to ring finger even with the base of the nail
12) The fleshy part of the hand between the little finger knuckle and wrist bone - the karate chop point

The 9 Gamut
This is named for the nine actions done while tapping on the gamut point. The gamut point is an indentation about an inch below the space between the ring and pinky fingers. Take your finger down that line and you will feel the pit. The 9 actions are:
1) Eyes closed
2) Eyes open
3) Look down to the right while keeping head still
4) Look down to the left while keeping head still
5) Roll eyes once clockwise
6) Roll eyes once counterclockwise
7) Hum a song for 2 seconds
8) Count rapidly from 1 to 5
9) Hum two seconds of a song again

Repeat The Sequence.

There do seem to be many steps to the emotional freedom technique. When you start doing it and memorizing it, the simplicity is apparent.

To determine if EFT is working, think about the problem or stress you are trying to rid yourself of. How do you feel about it? If you are still feeling intense emotions about it, keep doing it until the emotions have subsided. Measure your emotional intensity on a scale of 0 to 10. When you get to 0, you have healed the energy imbalance.

A long-term problem may take a while to dissolve. Keep at it. You may also have to change the set-up phrase.
