Self Hypnosis Will Change Your Life

Learning a simple self hypnosis technique can profoundly change your life. This is quite a bold statement but entirely true. Using deep breathing, muscle relaxation and positive messages is all it takes for this to happen.

We can truly become resilient to stress and realize our full potential by communicating positively with our subconscious while in a relaxed state. This leads to becoming more productive, healthy, happy and prosperous.

Many famous people who have made great contributions to the world have used self hypnosis. The poet Tennyson, Mozart, George Washington Carver, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford have all received their inspiration while in "relaxed altered states."

If hypnosis is so wonderful, why isn't everyone using it? The general public has many misconceptions about the practice. The false perceptions come from the on-stage hypnotists who entertain or movies that portray hypnotizing madmen who take over the world. It is commonly viewed as mind-control.

Hypnosis is actually self controlled. A person in a hypnotic trance cannot and will not do anything he or she does not want to do. And, a person cannot stay in hypnosis "forever." A person naturally comes out of hypnosis if not told to do so first.

Benefits

What can self hypnosis do for you? It can:
· Relieve physical tension and mental stress
· Stop self-defeating behavior
· Put an end to addictions
· Increase self esteem
· Improve health and diminish conditions
· Deepen happiness and contentment
· Strengthen relationships

How Does It Work

Our mind works on a conscious and subconscious level. Our conscious mind is our awareness - what we are aware of. It makes decisions from information received by our five senses. It is rational and analytical. It is the "thinking" part of our brain.

Our subconscious mind, on the other hand, causes behavior based on impulses and instincts. All of our memories good and bad are stored in the subconscious mind. Automatic actions such as habits, mannerisms or traits are from our subconscious mind. When we are asleep, our subconscious mind is in control.

The reason we develop bad habits, addictions, low self esteem, stress and anxiety is because of the programming of our subconscious mind. What most people don't know is that the subconscious can be reprogrammed and mastered. We can and should take control of this impulsive part of ourselves. Enter self hypnosis.

Through the use of deep breathing, relaxation and focused concentration, we can direct the subconscious mind to release stress, get rid of habits, change negative traits to positive ones. Our programming will change and in return our behaviour.

Give It a Try

There are basically five parts to self hypnosis.
1) Deep relaxation - Begin by using a method like Progressive Muscle Relaxation .
2) Suggestion - This is a deeper state of relaxation. Repeat to yourself, "I am becoming more and more relaxed with every breath I take." Do this until you feel sleepy. In this state, you can now access your subconscious mind.
3) Analysis - Tell yourself you are now ready to solve your problem of _____________ (chronic stress, anxiety, etc.). Ask for the source, cause and answers. This is a soul searching exercise that leads to self knowledge. Be sure to write down your messages when you awake from hypnosis.
4) Therapy - This is when you implant the positive message or affirmation in your subconscious. Repeat a few times, "I am free of anxiety", or "I am more relaxed about my job."
5) Coming to - Bring yourself out of hypnosis by counting slowly to ten. Tell yourself that when you awake, you affirmation (whatever it is) is successfully integrated into your being. Also tell yourself that you will awake refreshed with increased well-being.

Some people find it difficult to do self hypnosis. Sometimes it is much easier to have someone guide us until we learn. In that case, you can use the services of a hypnotherapist. Or, you can utilize hypnosis recordings to guide you. One resource for audios is InstantHypnosis.com . They have guided sessions for any thing you can imagine. You can either download a MP3 file or order a CD.

The possibilities of using hypnosis to change our lives is wide open. Not only does it provide relaxation, but an opportunity for a better life, better health and happiness.
