Job stress is at an all-time high. Job security, satisfaction and fairness are a thing of the past. Your health can be seriously damaged if job stress becomes an everyday occurrence. Anxiety, tension, high blood pressure, depression, anger, digestive disorders, exhaustion, burnout and relationship breakdown are the many side effects of workplace stress. Using workplace stress relief techniques will allow you to get rid of tension at work before you go home. You won't be taking your stressful day out on your family. You can use simple tactics that get you through the day in a more relaxed state.
Workplace Stress Relief TacticsInstead of blowing up at your boss, taking a two-martini lunch or calling in sick, try these stress relievers to better cope with job stress. They can be done during your normal work routine. You may have heard of some of them, but others you may not have thought about. I invite you to try one or all of them.· Aromatherapy for Stress Relief - The soothing affects of essential oils are a popular way to reduce stress. Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of these oils. Inhaling the scent of a relaxing oil at work can keep you relaxed when things get frantic. · Stress Relief Music - Listening to music at work is my favorite stress reliever. Playing music can block out distracting noises and voices so you can concentrate better. Certain smooth, mellow tones in music can actually slow your heartbeat and relieve tension. · Dealing with Stress - The thoughts and perceptions you have of stressful situations can be transformed from negative to positive. Why let a situation control you. Take control with your thoughts and actions. · Heart Math - You can use a simple Heart Math method called Quick Coherence right at your desk. You can actually undo the effects of a negative situation with this technique. · Breathing Exercises - This stress reliever can be done while you are walking. It is another one of my favorites. It is amazing how a few deep breaths can instantly relieve tension and calm your mind. · Stretching Exercises - If you sit at a desk and computer all day, stretching is critical. These exercises not only relieve stress but loosen muscles that can tighten while sitting all day. Being proactive with job stress can change your outlook completely. You will feel less like a victim, more hopeful and become a better employee. If you share these techniques with your coworkers, the morale of your whole office could be uplifted. If you enjoy your work but not the stress, use workplace stress relief techniques to make it even more enjoyable. The improvement in your attitude will not be unnoticed. No employer wants to deal with a negative, agitated employee.
